Frequently Asked Questions

If this is your first time to a theatre or you haven’t visited The Venue before, the following Frequently Asked Question (FAQs) may be helpful.

Where can I book tickets?

We’re glad you asked! Click the ever-so subtle button below, or call our Box Office on 01908 972372

Your name says you are an Operatic Society; will there be much Opera in it?

None at all. When MKAOS formed 55 years ago that was the type of music they performed.  Today, our pantomimes and musicals are packed with modern ballads and classic party music that the whole family will know and enjoy!  Recent shows have included music from Abba, Hairspray, Village People, Queen, The Jacksons, Grease etc.

When should I book tickets?

As soon as possible!  Our shows are popular and many sell out weeks in advance, so it’s better to plan ahead. If you DO decide to chance it on the day, we recommend booking from the comfort of your car. Tickets can be purchased online or via our box office phone – 01908 972372. You may have to leave a voicemail, but leave your contact number and we WILL call back!

Is there parking nearby?

Yes, there is free parking at The Venue.  It can sometimes be difficult to park if there are other events being held, so we recommend arriving 30 minutes before the show begins to allow for this.

What should I wear?

Anything you like; there is no dress code.  Some families like to make a special occasion of things and often children will come in fancy dress.

Can I take photos?

No photos, videos or recording of any kind are allowed during the show – it is against copyright law and will ruin the theatre-going experience for those around you.  During our pantomimes, the Principle cast members will be in the theatre foyer as you leave and will happily pose for photos for you there.

Are your shows suitable for younger children?

We consider our pantomimes to be suitable for youngsters of three years and over, though babes in arms are welcome and these tickets can be selected when booking. There will be occasional flashes, bangs and effects that may be a little intense for younger ones, but once they are aware that shouting* and clapping along is all part of the fun, they are usually fine. Our summer musicals are aimed at a family audience, though specific guidance can be found on the show’s information page. * A friendly reminder that audience participation is a treat for our pantomimes only – please just sit back, relax and enjoy our summer shows!

Where should I sit for the best view?

All seats at The Venue are on a slope, so there are excellent views everywhere. Our Box Office staff will do their best to accommodate specific needs and booster cushions are available on request.

How long is the show?

Our pantomimes and summer musicals have two acts of no more than one hour each, with a 20 minute interval in between.

Is there wheelchair access?

The Venue is highly accessible to customers with limited mobility. Our Entrance and foyer is all at ground level and there is a lift available giving access to seats at the bottom of our auditorium and to the stage level. There are 4 designated wheelchair spaces available. Please visit The Venue website for more information about accessability.

Can I get involved?

Absolutely! Check out our “Getting Involved” page to find out more about this.
